Things I find curious about the AZ shooting

* A federal judge just happened to have been in the crowd and was shot and killed. That makes this a federal crime to be tried in federal court (I don't think shooting a congressperson is a federal crime if it did not occur on U.S. federal property).

* Judy Clarke, who represented "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski and assisted in the case of confessed al-Qaeda operative Zacarias Moussaoui, has been appointed to represent Jared Lee Loughner, the man charged by federal authorities with two murders as well as the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and two others. She is also the attorney who represented Timothy Mc Veigh at the Oklahoma City bombing case.

* Gabby Giffords was the representative that read the first amendment in Congress a few days ago ... including the passage about "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

* One of the victims was born on September 11th, 2001.
