What is Truly Obscene?

I bet Gerry Rivers, er, "Geraldo" got in trouble for this one. I saw this live on Fox, and no, it didn't get bleeped.
"... what you see here is a large amount of people that have been deeply and profoundly FUCKED by the system ..."
[Quote at around 8 minutes.]

Geraldo seems genuinely miffed at the protester, and he appears to fall all over himself apologizing [around 10:25 into the clip] for the violation of FCC law (punishable by a $325,000 fine) by the utterance of this ubiquitous cuss word. In fact he says he hopes it doesn't mean he won't be able to come down here and cover this any more. So what he's saying is that because of FCC law, the spontaneous voice of the people -- the heart and soul of the first amendment -- will continue to be denied the megaphone of mass media broadcasting. Meanwhile none of the mega news channels have any problem showing footage of the bloodied body of Moammar Qaddafi. Back in the old days people used to stick the head of a deposed leader on a pike and parade it around the city. I used to think that was pretty damn barbaric, but now I'm left wondering ... how is this is any different?

So, speaking the truth using strong but expressive language is an obscenity, but shit like this, well, that's just the natural order of things. Excuse me while I barf.
